On April 1, 2010, the park will open a temporary visitor center while major renovations are being made to the Visitor Center. The temporary visitor center will be located in the parking parking lot of our closed Visitor Center. This will allow us to continue to provide visitor orientations, services, and visit planning for the duration of the project.
Explore Chaco's trails and cultural sited before you visit them. See virtual movies of the Sun Dagger and other special areas. View NASA satellite photos of the park from space. See historic photos that slowly merge into the modern scene. Lean of ongoing traditions that began at Chaco and continue today.
Archival records on the archeology of Chaco Canyon held at other institutions can be viewed through the Chaco Digital Initiative at the University of Virginia. The Chaco Digital Initiative is a collaborative effort to create a digital archive that will integrate much of the widely dispersed archaeological data collected from Chaco Canyon in the late 1890s and the first half of the 20th century. Phase two of the project will include records from the park's archive.
The Friends of Chaco is a non-profit corporation formed to support and assist Chaco Culture NHP in preserving and protecting the Park's resources, and contribute to research, interpretation and enjoyment of the park.
